At the impressionable age of 23, I embarked on a career in veterinary medicine after reading the inspiring books of the Englishman James Herriot. Herriot wrote about his adventurous career as a small town veterinarian helping sick and injured animals get well. So, it seemed logical that I – a health nut who loved to spend hours in the companionship of her pets – had found her calling at last.
As a practicing veterinarian spanning 25 years from 1986 to 2011, I have concluded that health is simply the reward for people (and our pets) that eat wholesome foods, maintain good body weights and take measures to reduce exposure to harmful substances found in our man-made polluted environment. This realization prompted my own research and the adoption of a health-enhancing lifestyle followed by a skeptical view of drug happy mainstream medicine.
In 2010, I started living in a Nikken Wellness Home – experiencing my home as a ‘living greenhouse’ to support and protect my family’s health. Nikken’s innovative technologies create an indoor environment to optimize the air we breathe, tap water we drink, our sleep quality, and light source. Nikken has also researched and developed drug-free alternatives to help those who suffer from common complaints like arthritis, allergies, osteoporosis and general fatigue.
Now I work in a ‘jobless’ business. No more 10 hour workdays, long commutes, mindless paperwork, escalating expenses, employees, contracts or landlords to deal with. I have the freedom to set my own work schedule and enjoy the convenience of working from home. I invested less than three thousand dollars to build my Wellness Home – which also earns me an income working part-time averaging 10 -15 per week.
